Fresh Manna

I thought I’d share a testimony from a reader that told me he was fine in sharing with you. I had just written a Fresh Manna about how powerfully God loves us. This is what he wrote me back.
Dear Pastor Tim:
I wrote you a few years back and you published it in Fresh Manna. I store all the daily readings in a folder that I can always go to when I need to. My son tried to kill himself 3 weeks ago today by hanging. He is 13. I found him within 3-5 minutes and he was still breathing, but unconscious. I cried out to God to save my son while the paramedics came. He was in PICU for 10 days and on a ventilator. We had people all over the world praying for him. He does not remember anything and I had to explain it to him when he wanted to know why he was in the hospital. We waited until his counseling sessions started with a Christian service and the doctor said “dad you found him you tell him”. I did and he acted pretty numb, but hugged me later and said”I love you dad”. Thinking about todays reading made me see that God loves me and my son more than I could ever imagine and now I see the Father’s love for me in a whole different way. It is hard, but I go one day at a time, just like Jesus said. We check on him a lot and his door is not allowed to be closed. I trusted the Lord and had a peace throughout the whole time sleeping every night in his room and praying over him and reading the Word while he was in a coma.He is a Christian, but was deceived by the devil and made a mistake. He has lots of support from his youth group and leaders and his Royal Ranger commander and the kids there and their families. Not sure why I am saying all this except to give God the Glory, because everything happens for God’s glory even if it is not seen at this time. I have had people come up and say it was a wake up call to them, because nobody saw this coming at all. Thank you Pastor for your daily encouragement!

God gave you Jesus – the most precious gift He could give! His love for you drove Him to do that while you were in a state of sin and hardly cared for Him. How much more does He love you now that you’ve given your life to Him! Trust that and let it increase your faith!
Psalm 84:11-12 (NLT) “For the Lord God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the Lord withhold from those who do what is right. O Lord Almighty,happy are those who trust in you.”
